TL;DR. Every ground hosting a 2027 Ashes match resells returned tickets through its own official platform, and none uses Twickets or any outside site: ticket exchanges at Trent Bridge and Edgbaston, MCC's Resale Platform at Lord's, the app and ticket account at the Kia Oval, the buyer's account at the Utilita Bowl and Headingley, and Lancashire's own resale platform at Emirates Old Trafford. Several open only for sold-out days, and we found no 2027 Ashes resale dates announced by any ground by 10 October 2026. The sale dates themselves are in our Ashes 2027 tickets guide.
Is there an official resale for Ashes tickets?
Yes, ground by ground. The ECB's touting page says it monitors resale sites and cancels tickets sold in breach of terms, and that selling above face value risks a ban from buying at cricket venues in England and Wales. Its list of exchanges is out of date: it names only the Kia Oval, Edgbaston and Emirates Old Trafford, with an older address for the Oval.
How each ground's Ashes resale works
Trent Bridge: Ticket Exchange
- Where: ticketexchange.trentbridge.co.uk, launched in 2024 for sold-out major matchdays. Sellers log in, choose Resell Tickets and click "Put on sale".
- Rules: sold-out matchdays only, at original face value. A sold ticket is refunded to the original card less a 10% seller's fee; an unsold one stays valid and nothing is paid.
- 2027 Ashes: nothing specific announced by 10 October 2026.
Lord's: MCC's Resale Platform
- How: holders return tickets to the Club and are refunded to the original card only if they are bought again. The FAQ mentions no fee.
- When: only on match days MCC chooses and announces on its website, under its 2027 terms. None had been announced for the Ashes by 10 October 2026. The platform first appeared in the 2025 terms.
Edgbaston: Ticket Exchange
- Where: ticketexchange.edgbaston.com, listed from your tickets.edgbaston.com account at face value or less, and the price can be lowered at any time. A sale is not guaranteed; once sold, the seller is refunded in 3 to 5 working days.
- When: opens at least one month before the match and comes down on the morning of play, and unsold tickets go back to the seller. It carried the 2023 Ashes Test, per a page archived on 15 June 2023.
Utilita Bowl: Resale Platform
- How: a Resale Platform reached through the buyer's account, set up in the 2026 ticket terms, which name the 4th Ashes Test. Tickets cannot be returned to the venue.
- 2027 Ashes: no resale page, address or opening date published by 10 October 2026.
Kia Oval: app and Resale Management
- How: list in the Kia Oval app, through Resale Management in your tickets.surreycricket.com account, or through Supporter Services on 0203 946 0100. Listings appear on the official ticket site automatically, and buyers need a Surrey Ticketing Account.
- Seller: 100% of the ticket cost back within 14 working days, no fee. The window closes about 24 hours before play, and unsold tickets go back with no refund. The FAQ says this applies "for most fixtures".
Headingley and Emirates Old Trafford: Women's Ashes
- Headingley: only if a game sells out, through your online account, at ticketresale.yorkshireccc.com.
- Emirates Old Trafford: Lancashire's own resale platform, at ticketresale.lancashirecricket.co.uk, is the only route.
Is Twickets official for the Ashes?
No. Twickets' partners page, read on 10 October 2026, names no ECB, MCC, county club or cricket ground; its sport partners are football and racing names such as Crystal Palace, QPR and The Jockey Club. It has carried fan-to-fan pages for England Test days, such as Day 4 of England v Pakistan at Headingley on 22 August 2026, with no partner badge or venue authorisation. Whatever the price, the grounds' terms decide:
- Lord's 2027: resale or transfer only through MCC's Resale Platform, apart from guest transfers (clause 2.4). Clause 1.40 names Viagogo, StubHub, Ticombo, Vivid Seats and SeatPick as unauthorised, and clause 2.5 says their tickets will be cancelled, voided or refused entry without refund. A breach can also close your Lord's Account and exclude you from future ballots and sales.
- Edgbaston: no sale or transfer except through its Ticket Exchange.
- Utilita Bowl: a ticket listed or bought through an unauthorised reseller is an "Unlawful Ticket" that can be voided and refused entry.
- Kia Oval: tickets sold on third-party websites are cancelled, and breaching the terms risks losing the right to buy for 4 years.
- Headingley and Old Trafford: Yorkshire bans advertising tickets for sale online; Lancashire cancels tickets listed on sites such as StubHub or Viagogo, with no refund.
- Trent Bridge: a ticket sold above face value can be cancelled and its holder refused entry.
The ECB says it may ask at the gate for proof of identity and of where a ticket was bought. Lord's QR codes activate 24 hours before play and work once, and screenshots are refused. For Twickets in general, see is Twickets safe?; for scams, our ticket scam guide.
Can I pass my Ashes ticket to a friend?
The ECB says most venues let you pass a ticket to a friend or family member at face value or less. Lord's allows a guest transfer for personal use, free or at no more than face value, which the guest cannot pass on (clause 3.21), by email as an Apple or Google Wallet pass or with Forward in the Lord's app. The Utilita Bowl and Trent Bridge allow transfers at no more than face value. Headingley tickets can go only to people accompanying the buyer, without payment.
Do tickets come back for sold-out Tests?
- Trent Bridge, July 2024. A capture of its exchange archived on 12 July 2024 showed 146 tickets for Day 1 of the England v West Indies Test, 92 for Day 2 and 86 for Day 3, each noting that availability can vary per user.
- Lord's, June 2026. Before the England v New Zealand Test, MCC chief executive Rob Lawson said the first three days had been sold out for some time and that tickets showing on the website were a small number released at late notice, mainly returns (City AM, 3 June 2026).
- Before resale opens. Lord's expects some tickets back from its partners before the 2027 season and contacts its waitlisted accounts first. Edgbaston said on 7 October 2026 that any returns for its sold-out Days 1-4 go first to Club members and unsuccessful ballot entrants.
Late returns have a hard stop: about 24 hours before play at the Kia Oval, and the morning of play at Edgbaston.
Where Alertix fits
As of 10 October 2026 Alertix does not watch any Ashes resale. We are working on alerts for official Ashes ticket exchanges, with no date and no ground confirmed; the Ashes 2027 waitlist hears first when any go live. We never buy, hold or resell tickets, and no alert can promise a return for your day.
FAQ
Is there an official resale for Ashes 2027 tickets?
Yes, but each ground runs its own: the Ticket Exchange at Trent Bridge and Edgbaston, MCC's Resale Platform at Lord's, the app or Resale Management at the Kia Oval, resale through the buyer's account at the Utilita Bowl and Headingley, and Lancashire's own resale platform at Emirates Old Trafford. No ground had announced 2027 Ashes resale dates by 10 October 2026.
Is Twickets official for Ashes tickets?
No. Twickets' partners page names no ECB, MCC, county club or cricket ground, and each ground's terms name only its own resale route. Lord's 2027 terms say tickets bought through an unauthorised reseller will be cancelled, voided or refused entry without refund.
Can I sell my Ashes ticket for more than I paid?
No. The ECB says selling above face value risks a ban from buying at cricket venues in England and Wales. Trent Bridge's exchange sells at face value and Edgbaston's at face value or less.
When does the Ashes ticket exchange open?
Only Edgbaston publishes a standing rule: at least one month before each match, until the morning of play. Trent Bridge and Headingley resell only for sold-out days and Lord's only for days MCC announces. We found no 2027 Ashes resale dates announced by any ground by 10 October 2026.
Can I give my Ashes ticket to a friend?
Usually, at face value or less: the ECB says most venues allow it for a friend or family member. Headingley is stricter: tickets can go only to people accompanying the buyer, without payment.
