The ballot: 1 to 14 September 2026
The public ballot is the main route to show-court tickets and it is free to enter. You need a myWimbledon account, set up through the tickets page on wimbledon.com, and Wimbledon accepts one application per household, per email address and per account. Entries are drawn, not queued, so entering on the last day is as good as the first; entering twice gets both rejected. The window closes on 14 September and there is no late entry.
What happens next
Successful entrants are offered a specific court and day over the months that follow, with a deadline to pay. Most entrants are not successful; the ballot is heavily oversubscribed every year. Tickets offered and then declined, or paid for and later returned, do not disappear: they are the supply that feeds the official resale during the Championships.
Face-value resale, and why it is worth understanding now
Wimbledon runs its own resale, through its own shop, at face value, for tickets returned by ballot winners and others who cannot attend. It is run by the AELTC, not a marketplace. During the fortnight, returned tickets appear in the shop unannounced and go within minutes; our own tracking of the 2026 resale logged thousands of drops across the tournament. Debenture tickets are the exception: they may be legally resold, and a market exists for them at well above face value. Everything else sold above face value outside the official shop is the tout market, and Wimbledon cancels tickets it identifies there.
