# Twickets, explained: how face-value resale works and how to catch a listing

**TL;DR.** Twickets is a UK marketplace where fans resell spare tickets **capped at face value**, which makes it the main honest route into a sold-out gig or festival. The cap applies to the ticket, not to Twickets' own booking fee, so budget slightly above face. Listings come from individuals at unpredictable hours and, for in-demand events, go in minutes. Being set up in advance matters more than checking often.

## What Twickets is, and what the cap actually covers

Twickets is a resale marketplace built around one rule: a seller cannot list above what they paid. That single constraint is what separates it from an open marketplace, and it is why so many UK promoters and festivals name it in their own terms as the resale route they sanction.

Two things the cap does *not* mean, both worth understanding before you are mid-checkout:

- **The total is not exactly face value.** Twickets charges a booking fee on top. The ticket is not marked up; the transaction has a cost. Look at the total, not the headline price.

- **The cap does not make the ticket valid by itself.** Validity comes from your event honouring the channel. Check the event's terms and confirm Twickets is named there.

## How listings appear

Every listing is one fan with a spare. That has three consequences that shape everything else:

- **There is no schedule.** Someone realises on a Tuesday night that they cannot go. That is the drop.

- **Volume clusters around real-life moments.** Payment-plan deadlines, lineup announcements that change people's minds, and the fortnight before an event when plans firm up.

- **Supply is lumpy.** Nothing for four days, then three listings in an hour. An empty page today says very little about tomorrow.

## Why the listing is gone before you refresh

There is no queue and no lottery. A listing goes live and is simultaneously visible to everyone watching that event. First completed checkout wins. For a sold-out arena show that can mean hundreds of people racing for one pair.

This is why "just keep checking" fails as a strategy. It is not that people are lazy; it is that manual checking has a duty cycle. If you refresh every ten minutes you are looking at roughly a few seconds in every six hundred, and the window you are trying to catch is shorter than your gap.

### The honest limitation of platform alerts

Twickets has its own alerts, and for a quiet event they work fine. The difficulty is that the events people most want are exactly the ones where alerting is hardest to serve, and an email arriving in a background tab is not much use inside a five-minute window. If your event is genuinely in demand, assume you need something that buzzes a locked phone.

## Getting set up properly

1. **Create and verify your account now.** You cannot buy signed out, and doing it during a drop costs you the drop.

2. **Save a payment method** and check the card has not expired since you last used it.

3. **Know your event's ticket types.** Standing, seated tier, weekend versus day, camping versus non-camping. When a listing appears you want to recognise instantly whether it is the one you want.

4. **Agree your ceiling in advance.** Face value plus a booking fee is a known number. Work it out once, now.

5. **Turn on notifications that actually reach you.** Push on a phone, not email alone.
