Two nights of the same show means two returns cycles, and the Sunday is likely to give back more than the Friday. ## Why there will be returns at all A ticket bought on 10 September for 16 October is five weeks of plans staying intact. Flights from other cities, hotel bookings, a Friday off work, a friend who said yes in the group chat. Some of that falls through, and when it does the ticket is listed for resale. Nobody announces it. The listing appears, and it goes to whoever is looking at that moment. This is a US show, so the resale will mostly be Ticketmaster's own, priced by the seller rather than capped. That changes what a return costs; it does not change when they appear. ## The shape of the window - **10 to 17 September: the trickle.** Duplicate purchases, people who bought in the presale and again in the general sale, buyers who got a worse seat than they wanted and then a better one. Small numbers, early, and usually the best value of the whole window. - **18 September: the album.** Bass Persuades lands on a Friday four weeks before the first show. Some people who bought on impulse decide they are going after all; some decide they are not. Expect movement either side of the release weekend. - **Late September to early October: quiet.** The plans are still plans. This is the stretch where refreshing a page wastes the most time for the least supply. - **The last week: the peak.** Show week is when travel gets confirmed or cancelled and work says no. It is also when most people have stopped looking. Less competition, more listings. ## Friday versus Sunday Friday 16 October is the opening night. It is the one people fly in for and the one that gets the first-night reviews, so it sells first and returns least. Sunday 18 October runs into a Monday morning, which is exactly the kind of friction that produces late returns from people who live in Los Angeles and thought a Sunday sounded fine in September. Two nights of the same show in the same building also produce swaps: somebody moves from the Friday to the Sunday, or the other way, and the night they left goes back on sale. If you would take either night, watch both, and treat the Sunday as the one more likely to give you a way in. ## What being ready looks like - **Know the original prices.** Note them from the seat map during the sale, even if you fail to buy. A resale listing only makes sense against that number. - **Stay logged in to Ticketmaster.** A return that survives thirty seconds is a good one. A password reset takes longer than that. - **Decide your ceiling before show week.** The last few days are when the temptation to overpay is strongest.
