The totals: **227 listings across 36 performances**, about 16 a day, median price **£82.50**, spread from £25 balcony seats to £545 premium stalls. More than half were pairs. They appeared at every hour of the working day, and the busiest single dates in the data were the mid-August nights. Face-value entry to this run exists every single day - if you hear about it in time. ## The show, briefly This is the London Palladium staging of the Lloyd Webber and Rice musical, running **20 June to 5 September 2026**, with Sam Ryder making his West End debut as Jesus, Tyrone Huntley as Judas, Desmonda Cathabel as Mary Magdalene and David Thaxton as Pilate. The role of Herod rotates through the run between names like Richard Armitage, Simon Russell Beale, Layton Williams, Julian Clary and Jesse Tyler Ferguson - a casting gimmick with real resale consequences, because demand tracks who is wearing the crown that week. After the Palladium the production moves to **Theatre Royal Drury Lane**, with dates on sale through the end of 2026 and a 2027 tour beyond that. ## What we measured, and how Alertix's capture feed watches Twickets continuously for the events we cover. For this report we took every Jesus Christ Superstar observation between 29 July and 11 August 2026 - fourteen days - and counted. No sampling, no estimates: these are the listings that actually appeared, timestamped as our detectors saw them. It is the same method as our [Wimbledon resale study](https://alertix.app/blog/wimbledon-resale-data-6-weeks) , pointed at a West End run. ## The numbers - **227 listings in 14 days** - an average of 16 a day, and never a blank day (the quietest day had 7, the busiest 26). - **36 different performances** had at least one face-value listing, from same-week nights to dates months out. - **Median £82.50.** A quarter of listings were £55 or less, a quarter £123 or more, and the full range ran £25 to £545. Twickets caps at face value, so this is the production's own price ladder resurfacing, not markup. - **Pairs dominate:** 117 of the 227 were pairs, 85 were singles, and 25 were groups of three or four. If you need exactly two seats, resale is genuinely your format. - **No quiet hours:** 31% of listings appeared between 7am and midday, 35% between 5pm and 11pm, and the rest through the afternoon. Theatre returns follow broken plans, not schedules. - **Demand clusters around dates:** the two busiest performance dates in our window, 13 and 15 August, produced 48 listings between them - the market moves hardest exactly where attention is. ## What the data changes about how you buy **Stop treating "limited availability" as "pay £200 or miss it".** A steady sixteen face-value tickets a day is not scarcity in the marketplace sense; it is scarcity in the timing sense. The tickets exist. What decides who gets them is the gap between a listing appearing and someone claiming it, and for the popular nights that gap is minutes. If your ceiling is £60, a quarter of everything we saw qualified - you are not waiting for a unicorn, you are waiting for roughly every fourth listing. **Mind the Herod calendar.** Star casting rotates, demand rotates with it, and returns spike where demand does. A night with a headline Herod is harder to catch but produces more churn; a midweek night either side of the handover is where patient buyers win.
