Electric Picnic sells out the *following* year's festival: 2026 went in under two hours in September 2025, and 2027 went on 4 September 2026 before a single act was named. Every ticket holder has committed to a weekend eleven months away, for a line-up they have not seen. Jobs change, people move, a couple splits up, a car dies, a wedding lands on the same weekend. Some fraction of 80,000 people will not be going. Their tickets are not cancelled and they do not evaporate; they go back on sale, one at a time, through the one route the festival sanctions.
