Laois. Tickets went on sale at 10am on Friday 4 September 2026 and the festival announced the same day that EP27 was sold out, with no line-up announced and capacity held at 80,000. Tickets still come back, through Ticketmaster's official resale, and the festival's ticket terms have stated every year that resale above face value is unlawful. Two things to know before you start looking: every admission ticket is a full weekend ticket, and the early entry, campervan and caravan passes are add-ons, not entry. ## What happened on 4 September The on-sale opened at 10am through the festival's loyalty scheme and the general sale together. By the afternoon the festival's own tickets page carried one line: "TICKETS FOR EP27 ARE NOW SOLD OUT". RTÉ reported the sell-out the same day, noting that no acts had been announced and that capacity remains at 80,000, with festival director Melvin Benn saying there would be no increase in ticket prices or capacity for 2027. That is the second year in a row. The 2026 edition sold out in under two hours in September 2025, a year ahead of its own weekend. The pattern matters for what follows: the people holding 2027 tickets bought them almost twelve months early, and twelve months is a long time for a plan to survive. ## The Irish rule that changes the strategy This is the part that makes Electric Picnic different from a UK festival. Ireland's **Sale of Tickets (Cultural, Entertainment, Recreational and Sporting Events) Act 2021** makes it unlawful to resell tickets above face value, but only for events that have been formally *designated*. It is not a blanket ban on Irish resale. Electric Picnic's ticket terms have carried the same statement for the 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 editions: that as a designated event under section 9(1) of the Act, it is unlawful to resell tickets for more than face value or to buy more than the ticket limit set at purchase. The 2027 terms were not yet published when we checked on 5 September; the festival's 2027 ticket information does already name Ticketmaster as the only official ticket agent and Ticketmaster resale as the only official resale platform. We describe the resale price as capped on the strength of the festival's own statements, and you should read the 2027 terms for yourself when they appear. The practical consequence is the useful bit: *there is no cheaper day.* Waiting does not save you money, because the price is not supposed to move. Everything you are waiting for is supply. ## Where the returns actually come from Ticketmaster is the only official agent, and its fan-to-fan resale is where a returned ticket lands. The 2027 on-sale listed four admission tickets, all now marked sold out on the festival's site: ### The tickets that get you in - **Weekend Camping** - general campsite, all three days. - **Family Weekend Camping** - the family campsite. - **Both again on an instalment plan** - the same tickets, paid off in stages. The festival says instalment plans were available for every ticket price. And the ones that do not: the **Early Entry Pass** (campsites from 14:00 on Thursday 26 August, and still on sale on Ticketmaster.ie when we checked) and the **campervan and caravan passes** (sold out). The festival's ticket information is explicit that the campervan and caravan tickets are supplementary and that holders must also have a weekend ticket. If a pass is the only thing you can find, you have found a car park, not a festival. The anti-tout guidance on the festival's own site is worth reading in full. Its short version: tickets are non-transferable, the Ticketmaster exchange is the genuine fan-to-fan route, and "if you see tickets for Electric Picnic advertised anywhere other than on Ticketmaster you stand a good chance of getting ripped off". Festival Republic also says it cannot help anyone who bought from an unauthorised source, because there is no purchase history to check. It appears on the resale page and it is available until somebody takes it. For a festival that sold 80,000 tickets in a morning, the number of people watching is far larger than the number coming back, and nothing tells you a listing exists. You cannot solve that by refreshing. A listing that appears at 11:40 on a Tuesday goes to whoever happened to be looking at 11:40 on a Tuesday, and nobody can watch a page for eleven months around a job. The minutes you would spend creating one are the minutes the ticket is available in. - Know which ticket you want. Family camping and general camping are different campsites, not different prices. - Returns come in ones and twos far more often than in fours. A group of four may need to accept two pairs. - Ignore anything above face value. For a designated event that is not a bargain you missed, it is a sale that should not be happening. ## Questions people actually ask ### Electric Picnic 2027 is sold out. Can I still get a ticket? Yes, through returns. The festival names Ticketmaster as its only official ticket agent and Ticketmaster resale as the only official resale platform, and that is where a ticket goes when someone can no longer use it. Listings appear without warning and there is no queue to join. ### How fast did Electric Picnic 2027 sell out? Tickets went on sale at 10am on Friday 4 September 2026 through the loyalty scheme and general sale, and the festival announced the same day that EP27 was sold out. Capacity stays at 80,000, and the festival director said neither prices nor capacity would rise for 2027. It is the second year running the festival has sold out the following year's edition within a day of release. ### Is it legal to resell Electric Picnic tickets in Ireland? Above face value, the festival's own ticket terms have said no every year since 2023: they state Electric Picnic is a designated event under section 9(1) of the Sale of Tickets Act 2021, which makes reselling above face value unlawful. Designation applies event by event, so check the 2027 terms for the same line once they are published. ### Are there Electric Picnic 2027 day tickets? Not in the on-sale. Every admission ticket listed for 2027 is a full weekend camping ticket, general or family, so there is no Saturday-only option to fall back on. ### An early entry pass is still on sale. Does that get me in? No. The Early Entry Pass opens the campsites from 14:00 on Thursday 26 August, and the festival says campervan and caravan passes are supplementary tickets that need a weekend ticket alongside them.
